My 1964 Falcon Hardtop

The 1964 Ford Falcon Was built in several styles and models.  Mine happens to be the 2 door hardtop.  That means there is no door frame around the window itself.  According to the vehicle code it was originally a Tan color with a red interior.  It had a 260 V8 and 3 speed manual transmission with a column shifter.  Pretty ordinary for a Falcon, nothing really special about.

A friend found it for me sitting in a yard in South Carolina.  He emailed me some pictures so I decided it was worth driving up to look at it.  Believe me it looks better on the outside than on the inside!  Someone tried to put in a 4sp transmission.  So why did he have to cut out that huge hole in the floor?  The floor pans have been patched in the past and just need total replacement now.

The engine wasn't original.  It was a 1968 truck engine.  After pulling it and tearing it down I found burned bearings and 3 broken pistons.  I kept the block and dumped everything else.  I may use the block later for something else.  Also, there are signs the car has been wreck in the past and badly repaired.  But the whole car seems very straight.

So what to do with this thing.  I have 4 options.  First, I can make it into a race car.  Nope, I don't race.  Nothing wrong with racing I just don't like to race.  Second, restore it to showroom original.  Nope, been there - done that.  Third, restomod with updated systems.  This is ok and I considered it.  But this is my 5th car build and I want something special.  Fourth, customize the whole car!  Yeah, this is the way to go.  Believe me, if this were a valuable collector car I won't not do this.  So custom job it is.
